AdWatch Media — Omnichannel Digital Marketing Platform
A ground-up rebuild of AdWatch Media’s digital platform — transforming a slow, low-converting agency website into a high-performance…
Read Case StudyDoos op Maat has manufactured custom cardboard boxes since 2002, but their digital storefront had not kept pace with the complexity of their product catalogue. Selling truly bespoke packaging online requires solving a problem most e-commerce platforms were never built for: every product is unique, every dimension is different, and the price changes the moment a customer adjusts a single measurement.
Core challenges discovered during the WaveNovaTech discovery sprint:
• Standard WooCommerce product pages had no mechanism to handle a three-dimensional box configurator where every combination of length, width, height, material, and print option produces a distinct SKU
• Pricing logic was a multi-variable matrix — material cost per m², cutting-pattern waste, print setup amortised across quantity, ink coverage, and logistics surcharge — impossible to express in any off-the-shelf pricing plugin
• Customers needed to visualise a finished, printed box before committing to an order; a static catalogue image was commercially useless for a product that could come in 10,000 size and print combinations
• The platform had to operate identically across three countries — Netherlands, Belgium, and Germany — each with different tax rates (Dutch BTW, Belgian BTW, German MwSt), payment methods, shipping carriers, and language nuances
• The factory's workflow management system needed structured production data per order (flat-pack cutting dimensions, material grade, print specification, quantity); WooCommerce order notes and PDF invoices were causing manual re-entry errors on complex multi-line orders
• With no minimum order quantities, the checkout flow had to handle a single-box order and a 10,000-unit production run identically, without custom B2B quoting friction
• Trust was a significant conversion barrier: custom manufacturing requires a financial commitment before the customer can physically evaluate the product — the site had to earn confidence before the first click
WaveNovaTech designed and built the complete e-commerce platform from the ground up on WordPress and WooCommerce, with deeply customised PHP and JavaScript layers handling every non-standard manufacturing requirement.
Custom Box Configurator
We built a fully bespoke specification engine — a JavaScript-driven interactive configurator where customers set length, width, height, material grade (single-wall, double-wall, micro-flute), flute type, and quantity. Every combination is validated in real time against a manufacturing-feasibility matrix: orders outside production tolerances are blocked before checkout, and the configurator surfaces alternative dimensions where material efficiency improves cost. Fifteen distinct box types — including folding boxes, mailing boxes, letterbox-compatible designs, autolock e-commerce boxes, calendar packaging, and compartment dividers — are handled within a single unified configurator interface.
Real-Time Price Calculator
We engineered a pricing engine that updates cost-per-unit as the customer adjusts any parameter. The calculation runs entirely server-side via a lightweight REST API endpoint to protect the pricing logic, with the JavaScript frontend polling on every input change and displaying the result with zero page refresh. The formula accounts for material waste from cutting patterns, quantity-based economy of scale, print setup cost amortisation, ink coverage surcharges for full-bleed printing, and country-specific delivery rates. Customers see their exact price before they need to register or log in — a deliberate conversion decision informed by drop-off analytics on the previous site.
3D Box Preview & 360° Print Design Tool
We integrated a WebGL-powered 3D preview that renders the customer's box in real time — auto-resizing as dimensions change and displaying uploaded artwork mapped accurately to each face. Customers upload a print file or use the on-site design tool to position logos, text, and graphic elements across the full 360° surface before adding to cart. On order placement, the system generates a print-ready PDF proof automatically dispatched to the customer for sign-off before the job enters production. This tool launched as a major feature update in 2024 and became the highest-engagement feature on the platform.
Multi-Country, Multi-Language Platform
We implemented WPML with full content localisation across Dutch (NL), Flemish Dutch (BE), and German (DE). Each country instance carries localised tax calculations, shipping zone rates, preferred payment gateways (iDEAL for Netherlands, Bancontact for Belgium, Klarna for Germany), and currency display. A single WordPress multisite installation manages all three storefronts from one admin panel with shared product catalogue management.
Manufacturing ERP Integration
We built a custom order export layer that transforms WooCommerce order data into structured production sheets — cutting dimensions in flat-pack format, material and flute specification, print colour profile, finish, and per-item quantity — routed directly into Doos op Maat's factory workflow management system. This eliminated the manual data re-entry step that had been the leading cause of production errors on complex multi-specification orders.
Trust Architecture & Sustainability Positioning
Kiyoh review widgets were integrated at every friction point in the purchase funnel — homepage hero section, individual product type pages, and the checkout sidebar. Thuiswinkel Waarborg trust certification and FSC-certified material badges were positioned at the precise moments customers typically hesitate. A sustainability impact module on product pages shows estimated CO₂ savings and cardboard waste reduction versus standard-sized packaging, resonating strongly with the growing segment of eco-conscious e-commerce brands. The copy throughout emphasises that Doos op Maat's cardboard is composed of approximately 80% recycled paper — a fact that drives repeat purchasing among environmentally motivated buyers.
The platform became the primary revenue channel across all three markets and continues to scale. Results measured over the 12 months following launch:
Customer & Order Volume
• 5,500+ active customers onboarded across Netherlands, Belgium, and Germany
• 14,000+ orders fulfilled in 2025 — sustained demand from both new and returning customers
• Belgium and Germany webshops went live within 6 weeks of the Netherlands platform launch, enabled by the WPML multi-country architecture
Customer Satisfaction
• 8.4/10 Kiyoh verified-buyer rating from 1,200+ published reviews
• Reviewers consistently cite clear pricing, reliable delivery timelines, and accurate box specifications as the top satisfaction drivers — all three directly shaped by platform decisions made during the build
Conversion & Revenue
• Cart abandonment dropped 34% — attributed to the real-time price calculator removing the "I'll request a quote later" exit that had been the site's single largest drop-off point
• Average order value increased 22% — attributed to the 3D print design tool increasing premium full-bleed printing adoption by making the result tangible before purchase
• The 360° design tool (launched as a platform update in 2024) drove a 41% increase in print-decorated box orders in its first quarter live
Operations
• Production error rate on complex orders fell to near zero after the ERP integration eliminated manual dimension re-entry between the WooCommerce order and the factory workflow system
• Customer service ticket volume for order specification queries dropped 58% in the 6 months following the configurator launch — customers now self-serve through the validation logic rather than emailing to confirm feasibility
Market Position
• Doos op Maat joined TailorPack Group in 2024 alongside Schutte Bagclosures and SFA Packaging — the platform's scalability and multi-country architecture were cited as infrastructure assets in the group consolidation
A ground-up e-commerce platform for a Netherlands custom packaging manufacturer — combining a real-time 3D box configurator, a multi-variable price calculator, 360° print design tool, and a three-country multi-language storefront serving 5,500+ customers across the Netherlands, Belgium, and Germany.
